If you love Australia it will have you aching for the scent of gums and the sight of the Southern Berieres sparkling in a dark, velvety sky, while if rec love dogs it is sure to make you highly indulgent towards the one you love.
I also found this quote interesting because I can relate to the the messy nature of a dog because I chose to read this book as it was a suggestion from my sister and i had also just seen the new movie on Red Dog.

When I managed to return to the book, I barely made it through the next and last like, six pages before once more being blinded. Read it Forward Read it first. In the movie they have made him American, played by an actor of some note, presumably because Americans don’t watch movies that don’t have an American connection.

I wanted to read this before seeing the film and I’m so glad I did. They stop work in order to treat Red Dog and prevent his bleeding to death. I thoroughly recommend Red Dog to young and old readers alike — yes, some of the stories are sad and you may need to hug your dog afterwards, but de Bernieres has the ability to take you right into the Australian outback so that you can almost taste the heat of the desert and right into the heart of Red Dog and the spirit of his community.
It is a heart-warming tale. Mostly fictional but de Bernieres did spend a couple of weeks in WA researching. Read in one sitting – loved it – read it! A very sweet and touching story that shows off that quintessential Australian outback spirit and the love of a community or rather, several!

The style is convincing and you slowly forget you are reading a book. But Red Dog was a kind of ultra-Kelpie, energetic and clever enough for an entire breed in himself.
This has been on my shelves forever, if I remember right my Mum pressed it on me in return for passing on to her my copy of Corelli’s Mandolin not a keeper. To be quite honest, I don’t normally like stories about animals, and I picked this up only because it was recommended to me as a choice for novels set in Australia or by Australian authors, but I ended up absolutely loving this book. Berkelouw have years of experience in providing books for interior decoration, retail and corporate displays, film, theatre and commercials.
Or maybe that is just my love for animals and my deeply buried faith in human goodness speaking from me. I found this to be a relevant quote to Red Dogs character as he was a wild, free and messy dog.

Red Dog by Louis de Bernières
This is a great, touching and brilliant book. It won’t take you more than a couple of hours to read the whole book, but even so, I’d recommend reading it a chapter at a time over several days as its effects are subtle and you’ll be sorry you finished it so quickly. This is a remarkable story about a dog who has friends all over Western Australia.
But, it looks like you have to be I firstly went to see the movie – as it was out on pouis big screen and I didn’t know it was a book before a movie.
