There were a few scenes depicting Noami battling against the Covenant which showed the Spartan concept quite neatly. This absolutely destroyed any immersion I had in the book, and was never able to get pulled back into it. In no way will I say this is an emotion-driven novel of stellar writing and depth, but I will say that I enjoyed it, and I look forward to more to come.
