Review: Dread Locks by Neal Shusterman
The beauty of going into a book blind is, if I don’t like it, I don’t have to worry about how much preconceptions have colored my opinions. Strengths nela reviews and awards: Also in Dark Fusion. His sister and brother got presents on HIS bir Dread Locks is a book meant for people who like to read books that are about regular people meeting irregular people who change people after having a short conversation with them.
Parker Baer as an adult. I think that this book had a good concept, but for me it just didn’t follow through in dresdlocks ‘interesting’ category. I won’t mention the myth as nal would be spoiler-y, but Dreadlocks was creative and I’ll probably pick up another Dark Fusion read.
What happened to Parker right before the end was the main reason I love this book.

Return to Book Page. I bought this for myself, thinking it was a bit old for my ten year old the characters are highschoolersbut because it was free of language and innuendo, I thought it appropriate for my ten-year-old who loved Percy Jackson.
He’s a fifteen-year-old “fat cat” living with wealthy parents in a wealthy neighborhood, never really wanting for anything that his parents can’t give him. The ending, although slightly predictable in some ways, was a surprise overall.

This book could be used in ndal Greek mythology unit, or possibly as an example of a modern fairy tale. Exotic dreadlocis strange Tara keeps readers on the edge of their seats with her unconventional behavior and unusual perspective on everyday life.

Wherever Neal goes, he quickly earns a reputation as a storyteller and dynamic speaker. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. It looks like Parker’s going to find out, even though at times he doesn’t want to. They grow less interested in life and develop strange quirks. Slightly disappointing, especially since this is the author of two of my favorite books, Shustermna and Bruiser.

It might have been, dare I say, educational to reveal that Medusa was a women renowned for her beauty until she was punished to become the hideous monster of well known myth. Of course Parker is friends with everyone.
Xreadlocks book starts out making Parker completely unrelatable– he’s a rich kid bored with life and feeling sorry for himself because he has everything he wants–but it doesn’t take long for the reader to connect with him anyone.
As the situation becomes grimmer, dreavlocks teen is forced to confront her with bone-chilling, spine-tingling results. This is one of those books, where I was reading along, knowing that Shusterman doesn’t put things into his books without a reason, yet I couldn’t figure out all the foreshadowing till the end. Parker turns Tara to stone and Tara does the same to Parker. Except the random statue maker person, who maybe will turn into Pygmalion in the next book.
If you like his other books, then I would read this one. It’s like being the middle Ashley. It’s so easy to wrap ourselves in a cocoon of what we want to pretend is real, and put on our blinders just as the equine handlers do for racing horses, so that we can go straight ahead and not have to worry about being spooked by the truths that jut up around us like unscalable mountains.
