I did enjoy the mystery pretty well, and the real draw of this series is the main characters who the author has followed through several books. Nov 24, Scott Stewart rated it liked it Shelves: Street of Shadows does a better job of street like a mystery novel than Jedi Twilight.
I didn’t hate it, but I felt that it lacked something, that final quality that could have made it a sure thing for me. The books show some progression in character, but I understand that the books aren’t intended to shadow a series as much as a series of standalone novels featuring the same characters. It’s all a front for Jax’s real involvement in Whiplash and one he uses to fool the first officer on scene. Author Michael Reaves more than made up for this with a dynamic plot that was driven by interesting characterizations.
Jun 11, Mike Pritchard rated it liked it. Star Wars Legends novels — There are no clues ahead of the reveal for readers to try to guess who did it, so even as a mystery it’s not fulfilling. This is what is supposed to be a noir trilogy, so to speak, and deals with a Jedi named Jax that survived Order 66 albeit just becoming a Jedi when the order was sent out and his comrades that help him solve mysteries in the lower levels of Coruscant.

The Best Books of I usually finish Star Wars novels in a week or so, often staying up late to finish them; it took me a few weeks to get through this one.

There is a side story with Captain Typho that is inexplicable, the bounty hunter Aurra Sing after Jax and then the main story that is less Star Wars and Colombo. Star Wars Nighs Star Wars: If you are looking for a book in this universe that is outside the box this book is that book.
