The waiting inside the narrative made me very nervous. I read this in another edition, and I enjoyed it a lot. This story is my favorite of his stand-alone short stories and I’ll tell you why. I really think it is really hard for a writer to flex the scientific reality as we know into something this far away from it, ignore the common knowledge of reality and persuade the readers in doing so.


The world goes mad.

Most of Asimov’s popularized science books explain scientific concepts in a historical way, going as far back as possible to a time when the science in question was at its simplest stage. He often provides nationalities, birth dates, and death dates for the scientists he mentions, as well as etymologies and pronunciation guides for technical terms.

Professor Asimov is generally considered isqac of the most prolific writers of all time, having written or edited more ixaac books and an estimated 90, letters and postcards. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. The religious part of the story “The Cult” which some kind of forms the conflict of religion vs science in the story believes that “Things called stars ” appear and people go mad because of them!

Asimov analyses our society in a way where science and religion and prophecies and the end-of-the-world are all connected and yet are at odds with each other, even though, it can be argued that they end up proving each other correct. With the eclipse, a perfect story for the time!

As in other Asimov stories, we seek the gems in the ideas. Majority of Asimov stories have interesting ideas and raised your interest, Nightfall could raised your interest and emotions. The texts tell a tale of catastrophes that happened when the world turned to darkness at a previous time. I’d prefer to see how Asimov alone would have expanded the short story.
