There is some discussion of the history of Pilates in this book, but it’s mostly focused on showing you the progression of mat exercises, with detailed instructions on how to execute them. Bidy and try again.

It also lacks more beginner exercises or ideas of how to adjust the exercises for beginner level. Brooke Siler follows Pilates’ teachings blindly, which I am not saying is a bad thing but even though that man was a genius in his own time, with the advanced science and an advanced world of sports and fitness some things have changed over time.
This is the definitive guide to classical pilates as taught by Joseph Pilates. I would recommend it for anyone – but I believe it’s advisable to undertake starting Pilates with a qualified instructor.
