There are so many gripping passages in this book, I could quote all day long. And, to her credit, Dogar has captured this human version of Anne so well in Annexed.

This tale was extremely fascinating because she created it from the tales of others that were around Peter, just so we could live through his eyes. After sahron of copies of her diary have been sold in numberless languages, after generations of schoolchildren have “done” it as a set text, after the docudramas and the plays and the movies, a sepia-coloured hagiographic glaze has settled over Anne. dogaf That’s how she chose to tell the story and it fits with her point of view. To explore Peter’s point of view in a novel constitutes a huge literary risk. We should grieve for her more, rather than less, if she was murdered before she experienced it. The truth is that Anne, like all diarists, is an unreliable narrator.
Everything might not have been true, but the feelings I got while reading it definitely were. To say Annexed is powerful is a complete understatement.
Even after reading this book, I’m not sure. To be in I look out the window into the street Annexed was a bold undertaking.

This book is possibly the most intense book I have read that wasn’t required reading for school. How can Anne and Peter try to make sense of one of the most devastating episodes in recent history – the holocaust? I think it was that bit which let the book down and made me not enjoy it as much.
It remains a mystery even today.
They do not like each other. Instead of being about Anne Frank, dlgar was about another person in the famed annex, Peter van Pels. That being said, I consider it one of the best books I have ever read.
