Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite authors her books have always kept fflight entertained. Without the kinetics the space platform construction is falling behind schedule. She died at the age of 85, after suffering a pegawus stroke on 21 November I’ve been reading so much new stuff from urban fantasy, romance, self-published, and new writers, I h You know, I am not sure I have ever read this book.

Books In This Series 3 Books. I have since I was a teenager some 25 years ago. It might even appeal to those who enjoy the current crop of ‘dystopian’ novels, even though it is quite sunny overall. Again, though, I love this book, and I’m sure I’ll read it again.

All of McCaffrey’s books flighy from her lionization of beautiful, talented people with special destinies who are permitted to save and sneer at the common folk. I won’t even get started on the relationship development in this book.


Jan 15, Yune rated it it was ok Shelves: The two main characters in this story, twelve-year-old Tirla and fourteen-year-old Peter, have unique talents that are fascinating to read about. A fairly good story about kids with special powers, the people who peyasus to use them selfishly, and those who want pegaasus direct them toward the good while also protecting them. There are just too many false notes – the depictions of many of the colorful characters of Linear G are kind of racist to the modern eye; at one point the main characters state happily that a young woman of color can get married at pegxsus because “they mature faster than we do” – and the villains are too cardboard-evil.

I love the boy and girl protagonists in this book. Someone that powerful needs to be under the protection of the center and he needs to be trained in his Talent, whichever Talent that may be.
