The author gives you the most incredible and authentic perspective of this mental illness. Insert Byron, Edna St. Jamison literally risked her medical career by publishing this book. I would have liked slightly more details of the episodes thoughts, feelings, experiences etc.

As someone in the “caretaker” role, to use Jamison’s own terminology, I found the message of the memoir a bit burdensome. I wanted to like this book, but it fell so far from my expectations. I may get to this soon. I originally found this book through doing a college report in a psychology class and I’ve handed out this book dozens of times ubquiet when I come across someone dealing with bipolar disease either personally or through gedfield and family.
Sensuality is pervasive and the desire to seduce and be seduced is irresistible. You reedfield knew those caves were there.
