Symmetric. F (R U R’ U’) (R U R’ U’) F’. Adjacent. (R U2 R’ U’) (R U2) (L’ U R’ U’ L). 2x2x2 PLL (inc. Ortega P2L). Diagonal. U Face Only PLLs. U & D Face PLLs. Using Ortega as a 2x2x2 method first involves solving one face intuitively; don’t worry about solving an entire layer, because. Specifically, the Ortega method and the Guimond method, perhaps the two most popular advanced 2x2x2 methods, both finish with a PBL step.

It doesn’t really matter, but it’s actually swapping them diagonally. If you can already orient corners in one step on the 3×3, you will already have an orteega for this step, but since you can ignore edges and centers there are nonewe can use some shorter algs than usual. Categories 2x2x2 2x2x2 speedsolving methods 2x2x2 substeps Acronyms Algorithms. This step is very easy and only requires a few moves.

For two of them, you can use PLLs 2x22x work on oryega 3×3. The Ortega Method is an intermediate 2×2 method. With only 2 layers it takes the form of: A third case is only three moves long. This can be quite confusing when you’re only used to a 3x3x3 with its fixed centres. Kidstardust Member Apr 15, Even though two layers are being permuted at once, though, solvers conventionally refer to the steps as simply CP and EP.

As with a lot of these puzzles, speed comes with experience and recognition: Using Ortega as a 3x3x3 method involves first solving the corners completely, followed by insertion of the D layer edgesand 3 of the U-layer edges. Neroflux Member Apr 14, The thing is, his lines are parallel for the two opposite edge switcher. Kit Clement Premium Member Apr 14, I like the 2×2 because it has Guimond which I wanted to get around to learning.

Specifically, the Ortega method and the Guimond methodperhaps the two most popular advanced 2x2x2 methods, both finish with a PBL step. He found an original 3×3 method in a book by Jeffrey Varasanothe US record holder for the Rubik’s cube, explaining how he solved a Rubik’s cube in under 45 seconds.

I haven’t downloaded them because I don’t need them, but they look like they would be excellent for a beginner. Welcome to the Speedsolving.

Wiki tools Special pages. This step should only take about 4 moves on average, so it’s easy to start planning the OLL during inspection. DcF Member Apr 14, But the method for solving the corners turned out to have the same steps as the “Ortega” method.

This leaves only two cases to learn. Skip to main content. There are only five distinct cases. Starting with week 33, I’m now using the Ortega method in the speedsolving.

For the first face, without colour neutralitythe average move count in HTM is a surprisingly low 3. Lol, sounds like those useless facts in advertisements. He has two posts, so he averages 4 useful things for every post. In total, there are 12 algorithms to learn 11 without krtega. AndyK Premium Member Apr 14, You can ortefa them out below or you can go to my website: For the Square-1many methods do PBL in two steps, by first solving the corners of both layers and then doing the edges of both layers.

Because of this inspection is just a few seconds, advanced users benefit from that and uses the remaining inspection time to predict the OLL case, or even the whole solve.

Feel free to copy them, change them, whatever you like! Wow, first post and already contributing so much to the speedcubing community!

This would have been useful a few months ago, because I had to turn on my computer oortega to refer to a few algorithms that I just can’t memorize. It suffers from the same annoyance of having pink opposite red instead of orange which can cause problems wih colour recognition. Hey everybody, I just remade my webpage and moved it over to its own domain. It is more efficient than using a 3×3 method but not as advanced as methods like CLL or EG that require a large number of algorithms.
